| Infusions by far are perhaps the most used herbal preparation, in an infusion the most tender parts of a herb or plant are generally used. These are two methods I found on the Internet and have tested. (Source below.)
Hot Infusions
Measurements:
1 Tsp Dried herbs or 2 Tsp Fresh herbs to 1 pint of water that has just begun to boil. OR 1 oz. Dried herbs or 2 oz. Fresh herbs to 1 pint of water that has just begun to boil. (Note: Vigorously boiling water is not recommended, water that has just been brought to a boil is perfect.)
Method: Steep the herbs in hot water that has only just started to boil for about 10-15 minutes, afterwards strain carefully, it is best served fresh but can be refrigerated for around two days.
Cold Infusions
Cold Infusions are used in place of Hot Infusions when a plant: could be damaged by heat, is highly volatile or contains a high mucilage content. This is achieved by soaking the herbs in cold water or milk for several hours.
Hope you found these helpful!
